| Man sentenced to probation on child sex conviction |

KINGSTON – A Lake Katrine man was sentenced in Ulster County Court Wednesday to 10 years of probation with sex offender conditions for his conviction of criminal sexual act in the second degree. Cody Buser, 21, pled guilty in July 2007, admitting to having sexual contact with a five-year-old boy. The charge stemmed from an incident that occurred in December 2003. Buser was 17 at the time. Ulster County District Attorney Holly Carnright said his office did not advocate for a state prison sentence based on a request of the victim and his family. “The family as concerned that their son would be further traumatized by having to appear in court and testify against the defendant,” Carnright said. “The victim in this case showed tremendous courage in testifying at the grand jury and the family has shown their resiliency throughout the course of these difficult proceedings.” Buser must also be listed on the state Sex Offender Registry and undergo DNA registration. |
