| Fugitive from justice arrested after foot chase |

MONTICELLO – Village Police in Monticello have charged a local man with being a fugitive from justice from the state of Florida. Eduardo Rodriguez, 32, was also charged locally with criminal impersonation in the second degree and resisting arrest. Rodriguez was spotted by police walking on Waverly afternoon Wednesday afternoon; he was known to be wanted by authorities. He attempted to lie about his identity by giving another name and when told he was under arrest, he fled on foot. Officers gave chance to a residence on Waverly Avenue where he attempted to hide, but was located and arrested. Rodriguez was wanted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department in Fort Myers, Florida on felony warrants for probation violation, violating an order of protection and aggravated stalking. He was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a further court appearance. |
