Parolee arrested on drug charges

MONTICELLO – A Rock Hill man who is currently on state parole for a prior drug conviction is back behind bars.

Monticello Village Police arrested James Wilks, 31, on Sunday after a traffic stop. Police spotted an open container of alcohol in his car and smelled burned marijuana.

When they investigated further, they found a plastic bag under the driver’s seat with 20 grams of cocaine, a digital scale with cocaine residue and a plastic bag with marijuana.

He was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail after being charged with criminal possession of drugs in the third degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana and violation of the open container law.
