New Jersey man killed in Marlboro motorcycle crash

MARLBOROUGH – A Lakewood, New Jersey man, who was riding his motorcycle with other members of motorcycle club, was killed Sunday on Plattekill Road in Marlboro.

Town Police said Marc Eber, 53, was riding with other members of “Hillel’s Angels,” a fraternal Jewish motorcycle club from New Jersey. They were on a day ride from New Jersey to New Paltz.

Police said for unknown reasons, Eber’s bike crossed lanes and struck a guide rail on the opposite side of the road early Sunday afternoon. It is unknown if a cardiac or other medical event may have led to the accident, police said. No other contributing factors are apparent currently, police said. The investigation is continuing pending the results of an autopsy.

Two medical doctors who had been riding along with their own motorcycles provided CPR on Eber. Arriving officers provided the doctors with an Automated External Defibrillator and assisted with first aid until Mobile Life ambulance arrived. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie where he was pronounced dead.
