Ball easily survives Republican primary challenge

PATTERSON - Greg Ball crushed John Degnan by a three-to-one margin in the Republican primary, but, the two will face each other again in the general election.  Degnan has the Democrat and Working Families lines in the 99th district, which includes Putnam and portions of northern Westchester and southern Dutchess counties.

Ball, seeking a second term, told supporters at a victory rally that he was tired of the negative campaigning.

“The people are hurting”, Ball said.  “They deserve real leadership.”

The campaign was marked by nasty accusations, including allegations he stalked a former girlfriend.  Ball argued the negative news was part of a conspiracy on the part of Republican insiders seeking to dump him.
