| Home invasion burglaries under investigation |
|
NEWBURGH – Town of Newburgh Police are investigating a series of burglaries that occurred in the Fostertown and Balmville areas of the town. The residential burglaries have been taking place during the day when the residences have not been home. This is the same area where several burglaries have occurred at homes that are under construction. In those cases everything from tools to an entire set of kitchen appliances were stolen from one location. Those break-ins occurred overnight and on weekends when the job sites were vacant. Police said the suspects have been making entry through rear doors and windows that have limited exposure to neighbor’s homes. Several of the residences were entered without force because they were unlocked, police said. Property taken in the burglaries has ranged from flat screen TVs to jewelry. The residents have returned home to find their homes had been ransacked and traditional hiding spots for valuables were gone through. Suspects have been developed in one of the residential burglaries that occurred recently. They are described as a white male, Hispanic male and two black males, ranging in ages from their 20s to 40s. They were seen operating a dark colored Toyota Corolla or similar vehicle. In that particular incident, they gained entry by prying open a second story window. Anyone with information or observing suspicious behavior in their neighborhood is asked to call Newburgh Town Police at 845-564-1100 or Crime Stoppers at 845-566-TIPS. |
