| Tourism official optimistic about Stewart despite airline cutbacks |
||
STEWART AIRPORT – AirTran will service the Mid-Hudson Valley from Stewart Airport for one more day. The airline ends its Florida and Atlanta service on Wednesday in a corporate move because of high fuel costs. But, Mary Kay Vrba, president of Hudson Valley Tourism, believes in the long run, Stewart and the region will prosper. “I’m very hope that’s still going to be a very good facility for us to bring people into the Hudson Valley and I just would encourage the airlines to contiue to look at us as a viable market,” she said. “I can understand the struggles.” JetBlue and Delta are cutting back their service at Stewart, but claim those are just seasonal moves. |
