$300,000 infrastructure grant to rehab Greene County intersection

COXSACKIE - State Senator James Seward (R-C Oneonta) Wednesday announced that he has secured $300,000 in multi-modal funding in the 2008-2009 state budget. The funds will help assist the Greene Industrial Development Agency with the expansion and rehabilitation of State routes 9W/81/385 in support of economic development along the corridor.

The Greene IDA has embraced the potential of the project to make a statement at “a critical gateway” to Coxsackie. The intersection enhancements will include improved safety measures, a better flow of traffic growth, historical lighting, classical signage, landscaping, and visual improvements which welcome travelers into the community.

The project is anticipated to cost in excess of $2 million with work commencing in 2010. The Greene IDA continues to seek supportive funding from federal representatives and state funded economic development programs.

“This is just another step as we work to welcome the Greene County consumer to stay local and buy products and services in Greene County. Our BIG (Buy In Greene) marketing initiative works hand in hand with community strategies to enhance business districts and consumer activity in general,” said Keith Valentine, majority leader of the Greene County Legislature.
