Crime scene in Liberty

LIBERTY – Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a man in the Village of Liberty on Saturday.

Village Police said one Village of Liberty man is dead and another is charged with his murder.

At 1 a.m. Saturday, police received a report of a stabbing at 37 Orchard Street. They found a victim, identified as Ismael Hernandez, 45, of that address. He was treated at the scene and transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Village and State Police investigated and charged Dalvin Beltran, 29, with murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

The investigation is continuing. Police have not released a motive for the fatal stabbing.
