| Two charged with drug possession after traffic stop on Taconic |

HUDSON – State Police have arrested two men, one from New York City and the other from North Adams, Massachusetts, and charged them with possessing 102 envelops of heroin. Darnell Sumlin, 20, of New York and Michael Shartrand, Jr., 30, of North Adams, were charged with felony and misdemeanor possession of drugs as well as criminally possessing a hypodermic instruments. They were both remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail. State Police from the Livingston Barracks stopped the vehicle in which the men were riding on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Gallatin early Thursday morning. This is the second significant heroin bust by State Police from Livingston in two weeks. On September 17, police arrested Christopher Burton, 28, for allegedly concealing 136 envelops of heroin. He was also charged with felony drug possession. |
