Man sentenced on federal credit card fraud charges

WHITE PLAINS – A man, who was part of a scheme to rack up credit card purchases with stolen numbers, was sentenced in White Plains federal court Thursday to three years in prison.

Florim Gjonbalaj, also known as “Chulo,” was involved in a scheme where over 40 victims suffered $200,000 in losses.

According to court papers and statements by Gjonbalaj, he conspired with others to make those unauthorized charges on credit card numbers stolen from businesses in New York and Connecticut. Those numbers were then used to make purchases at stores, including a consumer appliance store in Yonkers, and a jewelry store in Manhattan.
