Hall’s veterans’ disability benefits bill passes Senate

Clinton and Hall met with local veterans last week
to announce push for final passage of the bill

WASHINGTON – Rep. John Hall’s bill that would overhaul the VA’s disability claims bureaucracy has passed in the U.S. Senate. The Veterans Disability Benefits Claims Modernization Act passed unanimously in the House weeks ago.

Senator Hillary Clinton sponsored the bill in the upper house.

Hall said that this session of Congress was a productive one in terms of veterans’ legislation.

“We passed the Webb GI Bill so that every post  9/11 veteran will be able to have a free, four year college education provided to them,” he said. “We also passed the largest increase in health care for the VA in the 77 year history of the VA, and now, this bill will completely modernize and revamp the ay the benefits claims are processed.”

Hall, who is chairman of the House Veterans Subcommittee on Disability Assistance, said the bill “will help the VA become a 21st century, world-class entity that fulfills its purpose of serving our veterans, their families, and survivors.”

He anticipates the President will sign the bill soon.
