Auto dealers donate training mannequin to Port Jervis PD


Worden demonstrates technique on mannequin

PORT JERVIS – She’s called “Resusci Annie,” a high tech mannequin that will assist Port Jervis Police officers train on the proper way to perform CPR and other life saving techniques.

The $2,700 mannequin was donated by the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation through its local representative, Howard Kuperman.

Police Chief William Worden said the mannequin will come in handy with several applications.

“This is a very valuable piece of equipment that we can utilize for first responders, police officers, firefighters; a respond to medical aided calls involving heart attacks, difficulty breathing,” he said. “Police officers here train yearly on providing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and other life saving techniques. This valuable piece of equipment is very high tech; it provides electronic feedback to the training as they are conducting CPR on the mannequin.”

Kuperman, who owns Phil’s FRord dealership, said the dealers’ group was more than happy to provide the funding for the training device.
