CRMC earns full Joint Commission accreditation

"Moving in the right direction", says
Catskill Regional Medical Center's CEO

HARRIS - Catskill Regional Medical Center has earned full accreditation from The Joint Commission, Steven Ruwoldt, the hospital’s CEO announced.

Full accreditation was awarded to Catskill Regional’s main campus in Harris, the Skilled Nursing Unit and the Grover M. Hermann Division Hospital in Callicoon.  The accreditation is retroactive to December 8, 2007.

“Achieving full Joint Commission accreditation reflects the success of Catskill Regional’s rebuilding efforts and our ongoing commitment to providing excellent and safe healthcare to the residents of Sullivan County,” said Ruwoldt, who joined Catskill Regional in August 2007. “We’re moving in the right direction and we are delivering quality healthcare to our patients.”

The Joint Commission’s full accreditation follows news that Catskill Regional’s quality of care goals are succeeding.  Catskill Regional’s mortality rates for heart failure, heart attack and pneumonia ranked among the region’s best, according to recent data from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Center measured 30-day mortality rates for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia, which is indicative of a hospital’s overall performance.  In each case, Catskill Regional’s mortality rates ranked lower than the national average and in the top three for all hospitals in our region.

In June 2007, Catskill Regional formed an affiliation with Orange Regional Medical Center to enhance healthcare in the region as part of the Greater Hudson Valley Health System.
