| Man charged with hitting mother with gun |

LIBERTY – A 48-year-old Liberty man has been charged with striking his mother on the head with a gun and then firing two rounds near here with one striking a wall behind her. State Police at Liberty said Joseph Lamonte was involved in a dispute with his mother and struck her with the gun, causing minor injuries. He then fired two rounds near her with one striking a call. Lamonte was located inside his residence and was arrested without incident. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, assault in the second degree and menacing in the second degree. He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail with no bail. |
