Former teacher’s aide sentenced in teen sex case

Zurita - most serious
charges dropped

GOSHEN – A former teacher’s aide at the McQuade Children’s Services in New Windsor was sentenced to one year in the Orange County Jail after a jury found her guilty of endangering the welfare of a child.

Maria Zurita, 29, had originally been charged with statutory rape, but that charge was dismissed when the underage male student didn’t show up to court.

Zurita and former teacher Rebecca Becker spent last Memorial Day weekend with two boys from the school.

Becker will be sentenced after she admitted to having sex with one of the two boys.
