2008 Port Jervis PBA Soap Box will be largest in city’s history

PORT JERVIS - The 2008 Port Jervis Soap Box Derby is expected to be the largest derby in Port's history. A total of 128 drivers have registered for this year's race and will make up the derby's three divisions – Stock, Super Stock and Masters.

Several of Port Jervis' previous champions will be racing this year along with many newcomers to the sport.

Derby Day is Sunday, June 8 and takes place on Sussex Street in Port Jervis.

Children ages 8-18 compete to become one of Port's champions who then go on to Akron, Ohio to compete in the All-American Soap Box Derby Race. A Champ in each division will win a chance to represent Port Jervis in this International Race in July.
