Middletown to put up reward to catch killer

Robert Kwiatkowski

MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown Common Council next week will vote to approve spending up to $25,000 as a reward to catch the killer or killers of Robert Kwiatkowski. The 59-year-old Middletown resident was stabbed to death as he walked home from work on Wednesday night, April 30. He had left work in a mall in the Town of Wallkill and was walking up Route 211. Shortly after he crossed into the city, he was attacked and murdered.

Common Council Finance Committee Chairman Miguel Rodrigues told MidHudsonNews.com Friday that under state law, the city can appropriate up to $25,000 toward a reward such as this.

Alderman John VanderVoort was a good friend of Kwiatkowski and initially suggested the reward.

The exact amount to be posted would be up to Chief Matthew Byrne.

The victim has been characterized as a good family man, a Vietnam veteran and a man who was loved by all.
