| Man involved in double fatal sentenced to state prison |

NEW CITY – A Spring Valley man, who was driving a car under the influence of alcohol, that crashed killing two passengers, was sentenced Wednesday to two to six years in state prison. Galo Zaruma, 22, had pled guilty to vehicular manslaughter and DWI. Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said that Zaruma was driving at speeds of 80 to 100 miles per hour when he lost control o0f his vehicle which ran off the road and struck a telephone pole. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and a blood sample was taken under court order. That revealed he had a blood alcohol concentration level above the legal limit. |
