Poughkeepsie cracks down on rundown properties

POUGHKEEPSIE – City Hall will crack down on nuisance properties in Poughkeepsie in an effort to clean up neighborhoods.

The city attorney has briefed the common council about properties that have issues that would classify them as nuisance properties, said Council Chairman Brian Doyle.

“Those properties that have numerous building, sanitation, fire violations, or those properties which have had a considerable amount of police activity,” he said. “Corporation counsel briefed us on their efforts to ratchet up the city’s effort to make sure that enforcement is taking place.”

The city will initially target about 20 properties to tighten code enforcement.
