Tkazyik hopes for new city administrator soon

POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie could have a new city administrator within a month.

A screening committee is interviewing a handful of candidates for the post and Mayor John Tkazyik said he would expect a finalist to be selected in the next few weeks.

“I was hoping that the community could meet with these candidates and by June 1, we could have someone selected,” he said. It may take a little longer for that person to take over since the city administrator must live in the city.

As for now, Police Chief Ronald Knapp continues to serve as acting city administrator.
