DEERPARK – State Police at Middletown Saturday called the death of a Toronto, Canada man accidental.

Police said Jinan Liu, 54, fell approximately 16 feet, landing on a concrete floor while working at a building under construction at the Dragon Springs retreat on Galley Hill Road in the Town of Deerpark.

Witnesses told police Liu fell while attempted to grab a sheet of plywood that was falling over a ledge. Liu sustained a traumatic head injury. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday to confirm the cause of death.

The Town of Deerpark Building Department issued a stop work order pending an inspection of the site by OSHA.

The case remains open pending further investigation.
