Comptroller calls for better financial literacy

SUFFERN – It seems that in these increasingly tough times, it is becoming more and more difficult to navigate through financial waters.

State Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffe Sunday brought State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli to a conference at Rockland Community College in Suffern to discuss how to manage one’s budget.

“We’re living through a challenging economic time and it’s important for people, especially for those who may be behind on their credit card bills or their mortgages to know what kind of support is available to them to help them restructure their debt and certainly, for all New Yorkers to make smarter choices when making their financial decisions,” he said.

DiNapoli said the comptroller’s office will be involved in enhancing the financial literacy of New York families.
