Men charged with abusing mentally handicapped teen

HUDSON – State Police at Livingston have arrested five men and charged them with crimes against a mentally handicapped person.

The investigation stems from an incident that occurred on March 14 when the men attended a party where a mentally handicapped teenage girl disrobed.

During the incident, one of those charged, Joseph Wenk, allegedly menacing the girl with an illegal electric stun gun. It was also alleged that after the victim undressed, another man, identified as Ben Ezzell and the victim went outside and engaged in sex acts.

Ezzell, 22, of Red Hook, was charged with criminal sex act in the second degree and endangering the welfare of an incompetent person. Wenk, 28, of Livingston, as well as David Bocchino, 23, of Livingston, Eric Coons, 21, of Red hook, and Gerald Moore, 21, of Red Hook, were charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent person.

Ezzell was arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. Wenk and Moore were remanded in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Bocchino was remanded in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond and Coons was issued an appearance ticket.
