Three injured when boat crashes into shore

KINGSTON – Three people were injured when the 2000 Bayliner Trophy they were in on the Hudson River crashed into the rocky shore near the Ulster/Greene County line, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

The 27-foot vessel was operated by Wayne Farber, 47, of Purling, NY. He was southbound on the Hudson when he struck the west shore at marker 101. Farber believes he was in the channel between the buoys and was unable to avoid colliding with the shore when he realized what was happening, police said.

He sustained facial lacerations and contusions. One passenger, Michael White, 17, of Acra, NY, sustained facial lacerations. Another passenger, Nicholas Kniffin, 21, of Purling, suffered a possible broken leg.

They were taken to Kingston Hospital for treatment.
