Purple Heart stamp to be available at new 42 cent denomination

NEW WINDSOR – The US Postal Service is going to continue offering the Purple Heart first-class stamp at the new denomination of 42 cents.

“This is fantastic news for our veterans, their families, and the everyday American citizen," said Senator William Larkin. "I am extremely pleased that the authorities at the United States Postal Service will make the Purple Heart Stamp available again. It will continue be circulated throughout the world and we will use it proudly as a reminder of the price of freedom in this great country."

The Purple Heart Stamp was originally issued on May 30, 2003 to honor the sacrifices of members of the United States Military Services who have been killed or wounded in action.

On May 12, 2008 the U.S. Postal Service will adjust prices for First-Class Mail, Standard Mail, Periodicals, Package Services, and Special Services.
