GOSHEN – The Deerpark woman, who left her newborn baby to die last fall, was sentenced Friday in Orange County Court to 10 years in state prison.

Christine Maher, 39, had left her baby’s body in an old box truck on the property where she lived on Echo Valley Road last September.

Maher, who Judge Jeffrey Berry recommended undergo psychiatric treatment while in prison, hid her pregnancy and the baby’s body, fearing her boyfriend would leave her if he found out she was pregnant.

She had pled guilty to a charge of manslaughter in the first degree earlier this year.
