Small business brings their concerns to state Capitol

ALBANY – Owners of small businesses across New York converged on Albany Thursday for their annual day with legislators.

Orange County Chamber of Commerce President John D’Ambrosio said that while the budget crisis is on everyone’s minds, health care was the number one topic as the entrepreneurs met with their local lawmakers.

“We have access to health care, but we just don’t have affordability and people are now starting to pay more for health care than they pay for their mortgages,” he said. “We’re concerned about taxes and fees for health insurance that the former governor had built into the budget.”

The chamber of commerce officials and members took part in the annual Small Business Day conducted by the New York State Business Council.
