Sullivan County to launch gay-lesbian travel guide

MONTICELLO - The Sullivan County Visitors Association will launch its 2008 guide to gay and lesbian travel, “Out & About”, on April 6, 2008 during the GLBT Travel Show at the Javits Center in New York City.

“Out & About” is an attractive travel guide designed for gay and lesbian travel to the Sullivan County Catskills.  This guide was produced with the cooperation of New York State through an Explore NY grant.

“This guide is the culmination of a year’s work between SCVA staff and member businesses who recognized the need that existed within the GLBT market for a travel tool such as this” stated Roberta Byron-Lockwood, President/CEO of the Visitors Association.  “The SCVA has been marketing to the gay and lesbian traveler for several years, and as a result has seen a dramatic increase in visitation to the county as well as increases in property sales to second home owners.  The Sullivan County Catskills was fortunate in securing the Explore NY grant last year, and we are pleased to now be able to provide the GLBT traveler with a guide which was created especially for them.”
