CORTLANDT MANOR – An 80-year-old woman was killed when the car she was driving was struck head-on by another vehicle while on Route 9 in the Town of Cortlandt Thursday afternoon, State Police said.

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. when a car crossed into the opposite lane and slammed into another vehicle.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.  A 78-year-old passenger in her car sustained minor injuries, according to troopers.

The driver of the other car, a 55-year-old woman, was taken to Westchester Medical Center with a broken nose, police said.

As of posting time, police had not released the names of those involved.
