Marist 41st in ‘best buys’ among private colleges

POUGHKEEPSIE - Marist College has risen nine spots in Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine’s annual review of the “100 Best Buys in Private Colleges” in the U.S. The designation is contained in the April edition of the popular economics and money management publication. Marist is now ranked 41 in the category “private universities.”

Marist, which was listed as 50th last year, passed over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York University, Boston University, George Washington University, the University of Scranton, Case Western Reserve University, Marquette University, Syracuse University, and Xavier University (Ohio).

Kiplinger's selected 50 best values among private universities and another 50 among liberal arts colleges across the country. Marist was named to the first list because it offers a comprehensive education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Marist was the only New York college to make the list.  Four universities in the Empire State – Columbia, Cornell, NYU, and Syracuse – and one technical institute, RPI, were also named.  Among others making the cut with Marist were Brown, Dartmouth, Duke, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Rice, UCLA, Yale, the California Institute of Technology, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
