MidHudsonNews.com readers say throw the book at Spitzer, give Paterson a chance

Spitzer

Paterson

MID-HUDSON – If former governor Eliot Spitzer is found guilty of any crimes for patronizing prostitutes and any inappropriate means of paying for those services, he should go to prison, according to over 56 percent of those who took the unscientific survey on MidHudsonNews.com this past week.

Another 27-percent of those respondents said he should be held accountable for any crimes, but punishment should not go beyond fines and/or loss of his license to practice law.

As for last week’s admissions by Governor David Paterson and his wife that they had extramarital affairs in the past, 53 percent said that was an issue between the two of them. Twenty-five percent of those who took our survey said public officials should be accountable to higher standards.

Sixty-two percent said they have confidence in Governor Paterson’s ability to assume the duties of governor while over 11 percent said they did not have confidence and 27 percent said they were not sure.

A total of 78 percent of those respondents said Paterson should work with the state legislature to resolve issues voiced by local officials about the budget proposed by Spitzer. They felt that budget was shifting costs from the state to local level.
