Shooter hits passenger in car in downtown Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE – A passenger in a car was wounded when a young man opened fire as the vehicle he was in was stopped in traffic on Main Street between Clinton and Cherry streets in the City of Poughkeepsie.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Police released the information on Monday. The victim was struck in the leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound.

The shooter was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s and about six feet tall. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. He was possibly in the company of two other black males who were also in their late teens or early 20s. One was described as wearing an “eight-ball” jacket.
