Brewster man killed when car hits tree

PATTERSON – A 62-year-old Brewster man was killed when his car struck a free on East Branch Road in the Town of Patterson late Sunday afternoon, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

Police said Edward Jarosiewitz of 22 Shoreham Drive in Patterson was driving northbound on East Branch Road when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck a tree.

The sole occupant of the car, he sustained multiple injuries and was flown to Westchester Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is continuing as the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
