Home invasion robber caught

EAST FISHKILL – A 44-year-old Poughkeepsie man was arrested Sunday evening after he was caught committing a home invasion burglary.

When caught later, Thomas Horning was charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny.

A woman pulled up to her home on Phillips Road in the Town of East Fishkill at about 5:20 p.m. to find a strange vehicle in her driveway. A female passenger began honking the horn when she saw the woman pull up.

A man, who had broken into the home ran out, jumped in the car and took off. A short distance away, he let the woman out of the vehicle and sped away, evading police.

Hours later, Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputies who were patrolling near the Putnam County border spotted the vehicle, stopped it and took the suspect into custody.
