| Critics poke fun at Spitzer |
||
ALBANY – Outgoing Governor Eliot Spitzer this week has become the brunt of one-liners and jokes by late night TV hosts, radio personalities and now by t-shirt designers. The website CafePress.com is listing hundreds of t-shirts and other clothing with sayings and likenesses of Spitzer, poking fun at his sex scandal. Jan Peters of JDP Designs near Philly has her items for sale on that site. “I have t-shirts, sweatshirts, I have boxer shorts, everything,” she said. Frank DeLoach of Louisiana is another designer online. “He’s in with a lot of other politicians who find themselves up to things they shouldn’t be and being public servants, it’s unfortunate, they get caught and there they are, kind of out in the broad daylight,” he said. Glen Shaplands of Fitchburg, Mass. has designed many a t-shirt poking fun at people in the news. “We’ve done a Barrack Obama, a Hillary Clinton; we’ve done a couple of Al Gore, we’ve attacked the Flying Imams, Chavez; it’s all in good fun. Nothing is terribly over the top.” But, don’t be surprised if you see people walking around wearing t-shirts that say, “Client #9”, a reference to federal court papers that said Spitzer was just that in an international prostitution ring.
