| Heavy rains could lead to flooding |
|
HUDSON/CATSKILLS – The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rains over the next few days, and with melting snow, that could be a recipe for flooding. The latest storm in the region has the potential of dumping over two inches rain before it moves out Wednesday afternoon. “We are advising residents whose homes and businesses are prone to flooding to take the necessary precautions to minimize any adverse impact due to the heavy rain,” said Dutchess County Emergency Response Coordinator John Murphy. To minimize the impact of heavy rain and possible flooding, officials say drains should be clear of leave, snow, ice and other debris; drainpipes should not be obstructed; and items stored in areas such as basements or shed where flooding may have occurred in the past should be removed.
