Body of bridge jumper recovered

KINGSTON – State Police at Kingston Monday recovered the body of a man who jumped to his death from the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge early Saturday morning.

After an extensive search by several agencies, the body of Muhammad Eltantawy of West Hurley was found in the Hudson River by the mouth of the Roundout Creek by members of the Kingston Fire and Rescue Department.

The body was removed to the Kingston Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

When police received a call Saturday morning of a man standing outside his vehicle on the bridge, they raced to the bridge in time to watch him, jump over the side into the Hudson.
