Central Hudson works to restore service following a severe storm

POUGHKEEPSIE -- Central Hudson crews have restored electric service to more than 14,000 of the 18,000 homes and businesses affected by Monday's storm. As of 3 p.m, less than 3,800 customers are affected, most in the Town of Newburgh where storm damage is heaviest. Outages by county are as follows:

Orange - 2,700
Dutchess - 950
Ulster - 150

At this time, communities most affected include the Town of Newburgh and Pleasant Valley.

Most customers are expected to have power restored this evening and tonight, however some repairs, particularly in areas of heaviest damage in Orange County, may extend into Wednesday.
