Motorcyclist killed in Ulster County crash

HIGHLAND – A 29-year-old Maryland man was killed late Tuesday morning when he was struck while riding a motorcycle on Rt. 44/55 in the Town of Lloyd.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Town Police said a 58-year-old New Paltz woman was driving a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV southbound on Rt. 44/55 when she attempted to make a left turn onto Tillson Avenue and crossed into the path of the northbound 2004 Triumph motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:30 a.m. accident. The investigation is continuing. State Police, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Highland Fire Department, Mobile Life Ambulance and State Police Collision reconstruction Unit assisted Lloyd Police at the scene.
