Drowning in Delaware

DEERPARK – A Westtown man drowned in the Delaware River in the Town of Deerpark Saturday, State Police at Middletown said.

Serge Bien-Amie, 25, was wading across the river with a friend near Eddy Farm Saturday.  Both men lost their footing and were swept into deeper water. The friend attempted to help Bien-Amie, who was a poor swimmer, but became exhausted and had to swim to shore and call for help, police said Monday.

Bien-Amie was located about 15 minutes later in the water by the Westfall, PA Fire Department. He was transported to Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
