State environmental grants for waterfront revitalization

MID-HUDSON – A number of communities in the Hudson Valley have been awarded state Environmental Protection Fund Local Waterfront Revitalization Program grants. The funds cover a number of aspects including planning, design and construction projects that focus on economic, community, environmental and recreational improvements.

The City of Kingston will receive $500,000 for engineering and design projects for development projects along its Hudson River and Rondout Creek waterfronts.

The Village of Margaretville will receive $59,000 for to enhance its East Branch Delaware River project at Pavilion Park. The Village of Walton will receive $58,000 for its Third Brook Watershed Management Plan.

The Town of Poughkeepsie will receive $18,200 for Longview Park interpretive signage. The City of Poughkeepsie will receive $60,000 for downtown economic revitalization. The Village of Wappingers Falls will receive a grant for its local waterfront revitalization plan.

The City of Newburgh will receive a $500,000 grant for water quality improvements.

The Village of Piermont will receive $95,000 for pier improvements to celebrate the Quadricentennial.

The Village of Ossining will receive $175,000 for the Westchester RiverWalk at Crawbuckle Nature area. The town of Pelham will receive $150,000 for the Boathouse at Glen Island. The Village of Port Chester will receive $32,500 for its local waterfront revitalization program update. The Village of Tarrytown will receive $2.37 million for waterfront parks redevelopment.
