| Lawmakers want Dutchess LOOP bus improvements |
||
POUGHKEEPSIE - Dutchess County legislators are frustrated; they want the county to unveil its plans for a new, improved LOOP bus system. The county says it will, in the coming weeks, but lawmakers want to know about the plans now. County Planning Commissioner Roger Akeley says his office is working on the revised plans, which will be unveiled soon, and they will reflect the rising demand. “The finding that LOOP is being used more now; I think 13 to 14 percent, because of what we see around us. We are hopeful that when we make the recommended changes that those changes will increase the service even more, because we will have the buses in the right places to carry the people as we hope to do that.” A resolution by the county legislature calls for the county to “finally begin to reap all of the human, economic and environmental benefits of an upgraded public transportation system.” |
