Oros drops congressional bid

CORTLANDT – George Oros had decided the numbers just don’t work for him.  He reportedly is dropping his bid to run against first-term Democrat Rep. John Hall, in the 19th district.

Last week, the Republican committees endorsed Kieran Lalor.  At the time, Oros, currently a Westchester County legislator,  vowed to run in the September primary.

In a “Dear Friends” letter to supporters, Oros said he felt he could win a primary, but, citing recent Republican defeats in special congressional elections elsewhere, he has concluded the odds of winning in November, this time around, are slim.

Oros’ apparent withdrawal leaves the road clear for Lalor to go head-to-head with Hall in November.
