Two charged with parking lot robbery

MONROE – Two Monroe men have been charged with assault and robbery after they allegedly beat up a man they knew in the parking lot of the Walmart store in the Town of Monroe.

The victim, a 21-year-old Harriman man, was approached by two acquaintances, who had just got out of their car. The victim apparently owed one of the men money and he wanted to get paid. They argued s they walked toward the store where they punched the man several times and threw him to the ground, taking his money, which amounted to $1.50 in charge.

The men fled and State Police tracked them down. Charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree assault were Johnny Sanchez, and Anthony Smith, both 21.

They were arraigned and remanded to the Orange County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
