GARRISON – One person is dead and four are in the hospital following the capsizing of a 26-foot boat in the Hudson River late Monday night, the Putnam County 911 center told MidHudsonNews.com Tuesday morning.

The call came in around 11:15 p.m. of a boat capsized in the Hudson near Bannerman’s Island off Fishkill. The location was corrected to between Garrison and Fort Montgomery.

By the time the rescue was over some three hours later, one body had been pulled from the river and four other people were taken to the hospital.

The cause of the incident was unknown early Tuesday morning and the identities of the victims could not be learned.
