Two Indian Point meetings scheduled

BUCHANAN – Two sessions have been scheduled over the course of the next two weeks regarding issues related to the Indian Point nuclear power plant.

The Indian Point Independent Safety Evaluation Panel will present the findings of its study at a public session on Thursday, July 31 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at Colonial Terrace in Cortlandt Manor.

The panel was hired by Indian Point to conduct a complete safety review of the plant.

The second meeting, at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 8, will be conducted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission at the Westchester Marriott Tarrytown hotel.

The NRC requested the meeting with Indian Point owner Entergy to discuss the issues, testing and completion date for the new alert and notification system.

In addition to officials from the NRC and Entergy, FEMA representatives will also be at the meeting.
