ALBANY – A New Paltz man has been sentenced in federal district court in Albany to two years and nine months in prison following his guilty plea to possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Michael Abbatello, 26, will also serve three years of supervised release and perform 50 hours of community service once he gets out of federal prison.

The conviction is based on sales Abbatello made as a convicted felon where he sold a number of handguns, a rifle, ammunition, and cocaine in February, March and April 2007.

Federal authorities along with the URGENT task force and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office investigated the case.
