Former employee charged with stealing from insurance company

WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man has been charged with grand larceny in the second degree for allegedly stealing $296,000 from while he worked as a claims manager for Nationwide Insurance Company.

Robert Wirchansky, 47, allegedly submitted several fraudulent requests for claim settlement payments. He inserted fictitious names closely resembling his own, into case histories of legitimate insurance claims and deposited the resulting Nationwide Insurance claim settlement checks into his personal bank account.

Bail was set at $15,000.

If convicted, he faces five to 15 years in state prison.
