| Con Edison donation to help Scenic Hudson create parks, Hudson River access in Westchester |
|
WESTCHESTER COUNTY – Scenic Hudson has received a $45,000 grant from Consolidated Edison Company of New York, the money to be used to help create new waterfront parks and enhance public access to the Hudson River in Westchester County. The grant will be paid over three years and will focus on transforming waterfront areas in Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow, Yonkers and Peekskill from moribund, post-industrial sites to revitalized riverfronts that draw people to them and help spark economic opportunity. The Con Edison grant will support Scenic Hudson park designers, land-use planners and community outreach specialists. “This grant is a big boost for connecting the people of Westchester to the Hudson River and all the recreation and learning opportunities it holds. For too long the Hudson and its shoreline have been inaccessible and underutilized,” said Ned Sullivan, president of Scenic Hudson. |
